Elagolix, the heavyweight drug of Abbott, the latest phase 3 clinical trial has reached the end point

Elagolix has been considered as a potential blockbuster drug. It is one of several top drugs of Abbott's later R & D pipeline. It is also one of Abbott's best business trumps after humoral. Evaluate Pharma predicts that it will become the top 10 best sellers in 2018 with sales of $1.2 billion.

The FDA will make a decision on elagolix's treatment of endometriosis in the second quarter. Albaway said that once they get the data of the second critical phase 3 trial, they will start to apply for treatment of uterine fibroids.

Elagolix was acquired by aberway from neurocrine in 2010 for $575 million. According to the agreement at that time, neurocrine would receive royalty payment if elagolix was approved.
